| It's that time again! Calling all YOU-th to write for the Spring 2007 issue of the RCCC Beacon. You should submit something if you've ever: - Felt not perfect / not put together
- Wrestled with doubts about your faith
- Struggled with a crisis in life
- Thought about other existential questions
In having the privilege of being a youth counselor for 5 years, I've seen and heard so many of you struggle with your faith.
I still struggle. But part of the joy in the Christian faith is
learning to struggle together: to become vulnerable and realize that
we're "not perfect, not put together" and to share with one another the
healing work of Christ in our lives. There is no story of God's
redemption too trivial or too small, so submit! (It'll be good
practice for those essay writing skills as well.) Even if you're
currently in the midst of a struggle and there's no resolution in
sight, write. Alternatively, you can answer the following questions:
1. Is your parents’ God relevant to your life? Why or why not.
2. Reflect on growing up in America, your thoughts on any of
the following: relationships, peer pressure, school, ethics, religion,
authority, cultures, or any other issues important to you.
Thanks! -Dave

| I've uploaded a [very slightly modified] version of the outreach talk here: http://wasaiwarrior.googlepages.com/OutreachTalk7-28-06.doc If you have any questions about it or anything else, just ask! -Dave

| Youth counselors get asked all sorts of questions. Some of them are really funny ("Why don't you have a girlfriend yet?") Others are really weird: ("Do people spontaneously combust?") Many of them are serious: ("What happens to babies when they die?")
This Xanga is a space for the counselors at the RCCC YG to answer some of the common (and uncommon!) questions. So, fire away!
Rules for Youth: 1) If you want to ask a question, you can leave a comment on a post or send an e-mail through the e-mail link. 2) Please maintain confidentiality. Instead of saying, "My friend Bob...", say "I have a friend who..." Do not post e-mail addresses or phone numbers online. 3) No profanity! 4) Counselors reserve the right to remove comments.
Rules for Counselors: 1) When you make a post, please sign with your first name or Xanga name. 2) Maintain confidentiality. 3) If you think a post may be controversial, e-mail it to the other counselors for advice & feedback.
Start asking! We'll begin taking questions... today! Leave them as a comment to this post (or e-mail them). If we get too many questions, we'll pick one or two per week to answer.
